The staff of Giacomo's Groceria regretfully announces that, as of Sat. Feb. 21, 2009 Giacomo's has closed and will not reopen. Several majors set-backs related to the remodeling of our store, as well as some personal factors have forced us to make this very difficult decision.
Giacomo's was a success and we are extremely proud of our accomplishments. To our many loyal customers, we will miss you more than you know and we thank you for your patronage.
If you are holding a gift certificate to Giacomo's we will happily refund you for it. Please send your certificate to the following address by May 1, 2009: Milva Smith, c/o Smith Law Offices, 9 Central St., Bangor, ME 04401. Please note: Gift certificates received after May 1st will not be eligible for a refund.
M,
As one of your employees, I want to express how much Giacomo's has meant to me. You had a great vision, it came to life, and was quite the success. I, for one, had a great time in our little corner of the world. I'll miss it terribly......

I think the customers enjoyed watching us play our daily game of Twister at the sandwich station almost as much as they loved the sandwiches themselves! There was nothing else like GG in downtown, and there never will be! And we WERE prettier than the girls that worked at you-know-where!

What?!? This can't happen. Where am I going to buy my coffee? Or the New York Times? Or pasta sauce? I can't even process this...

Mary,
It's been a hard week for those of us that loved Giacomo's (and it's only Tuesday). I will so miss all our wonderful customers that brought such great energy and love to the store. There really wasn't anything like it around here!

I will miss your store...it reminded me of the neighborhood markets in the area where I grew up. In my opinion this is a big loss to downtown Bangor.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I tried calling ahead today to order a few Malafemina's, and got no answer. "They're probably just busy," I said. "It's always packed in there." When we got to the door, shock! Terrible news! We'll miss your great shop (and great employees!) Sorry things didn't work out. But this is, after all, Bangor, the city that I like to refer to as "ultimate half-ass," where everything is done only half as good as, say, Portland. Giacomo's was an exception to that, and it's a big loss for everyone. But thanks for giving us some great sandwiches while we had the chance!
